About the 2024 Candidates
David Potter
David is seeking re-election to the Borough Council to apply the experience and knowledge he has gained over the years, ensuring the protection and advancement of the interests of Milltown residents.
David Potter has proudly called Milltown home for 22 years.
He has been happily married for 28 years and is the father of two grown children.
A well-known and dedicated volunteer, David has chaired Milltown’s 4th of July celebrations since 2014.
As a current Borough Councilman, he has chaired both Public Safety and Utilities committees.
During his time on the Council, David has also served on the OEM, Finance, Planning & Administration, and Personnel Committees, and was a Class II member of the Planning Board.
Before his role as Councilman, David contributed his time to the Environmental Commission, Board of Health, OEM, Planning Board, and Milltown Channel 15.
He has also been a coach for teams with Our Lady of Lourdes, Milltown Recreation, and Milltown Little League.
David served on the Milltown Little League Board of Directors from 2008 to 2014.
His volunteer work extends to Milltown Boy Scout Troop 33, the Milltown Education Foundation, the Haunted River Walk, Lions Club, and Milltown Mel’s Wranglers.
Professionally, David is the Director at Acumen Pharmaceutical.
He is a proud graduate of Southern Connecticut State University and East Brunswick High School.
Patricia (Pat) Payne
Patricia (Pat) Payne has been a proud resident of Milltown for 25 years, raising her two sons, both of whom thrived in the Milltown and Spotswood Public School systems.
She holds degrees from Middlesex College, New Jersey City University, and Ohio Northern University, and is a licensed attorney in New Jersey, though not currently practicing.
Pat served two terms on the Milltown Board of Education, where she gained valuable experience working as part of a team. Her time on the board was especially meaningful as her sons were students in the school system during her tenure.
She is a Co-Founder and past Co-President of the Milltown Education Foundation, and has also served on the Milltown Municipal Alliance and the Milltown Revitalization Committee. Currently, she is in her second year as a member of the Milltown Planning Board.
For over 35 years, Pat has been a tenured Full Professor at Middlesex County College, teaching Constitutional Law and Criminal Justice. As the Faculty Union President of Local 1940 AFT, she has experience managing grievances, arbitration hearings, and overseeing the union’s operations, which serve 150 full-time faculty members.
Pat is committed to promoting sustainable energy solutions for Milltown’s residents and businesses, fostering open communication and transparent governance, and working with the Board of Education to help reduce the overall tax burden on borough residents.
